High Mountain Oolong tea is one of the most famous teas from Taiwan, the best grade of High Mountain Oolong is known as Silver Tip because of the beautiful colour of the leaf. It has a smooth and refined taste between peach and chestnut.  It also has greatly prized and remarkable health properties.

High Mountain Oolong tea (gao shan) are grown in high elevation tea gardens (4,000 to 8,000 feet) in the mountains of central Taiwan. Due to the altitude the leaves flush slowly on the plant and yields a rich, juicy, full flavored and high fragrance tea. The High Mountain These hand picked tea is one of the most famous of all Oolong teas from Taiwan.

The yield for gao shan tea is small due to several factors including the high elevation, thin air at high altitudes, the small size of the tea gardens and difficulty of farming on nearly vertical sloped land. The growing season is short tea but has a long dormant period (winter hibernation) which provides rest for the tea bushes to adequately absorb minerals and nutrient from the soil.

The careful cultivation, good soil composition, weather and micro-climates produces teas concentrated with abundant sweet flavors and intoxicating floral aromas.

To brew: use one teaspoon per person in a warmed pot, add boiling water and leave to brew for 3 mins. Strain and serve without milk.
